Darya Marchenkova

Born in Russia and raised in the United States, Darya is a community organizer who loves storytelling and communications. She first learned about grassroots organizing as a student in New York City, when the organization Picture the Homeless taught her what it means to build power. Since then her journey has taken her to Texas to work with the Border Network for Human Rights, Vermont for the Vermont Workers’ Center, and Budapest, Hungary. On top of studying visual journalism at Concordia, Darya works with a worker-owned cooperative and schemes with Climate Justice Montreal. She is a cook who dreams of one day opening the world’s dreamiest Russian restaurant.
