Elina Lex is an interdisciplinary researcher and media artist with research interests in immersive media technologies, sensory ethnography, and digital archiving practices. Her research-creation work explores the opportunities that multi-sensory immersive media expressions (XR/AR/VR) might bring to improve forms of access, engagement, and impact with archives and cultural memory material. Exploring concepts of the living archive, she often works with various forms of archives, heritage sites, and XR platforms to activate the layered, entangled, and contradictory narratives that inform a historical site. Elina Lex is an active researcher at the Hexagram Network for Research-Creation, the Center for Oral History and Digital Storytelling, and the Post-Image Cluster at the Milieux Institute.
Elina’s interactive work has been presented at the Artist Project Toronto with Radiance VR, the Festival of Live Digital Art Kingston, as well the Screening Scholarship Media Festival at the University of Pennsylvania.
