| Annie Thao Vy Nguyen is an MSc student in Geography and Urban Studies at Concordia. They are currently working on a research-creation project to examine the political and geographical mutations of queer Asian community organizing in Montreal from the 1990s until today. This project aims to trace and foreground the underdocumented, fragmented histories and invisibilized geographies of Montreal’s queer Asian community. From a broader perspective, they seek to make visible the intersectional dimensions of queer racialized spatialities and to interrogate monolithic understandings of urban enclaves, focusing on Chinatown and the Gay Village. Annie holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Université de Montréal, with a thesis at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) on inquiry-based exhibition pedagogy. At TUM, they then co-developed and co-taught a course on engagement and mediation in architecture exhibitions. Annie also curated and coordinated the exhibition “Bodies Carrying: Traces & Stories” at the Centre for Oral History and Digital Storytelling (COHDS), where they are now a core member. |
