KARAMS DREAM, 2024-ongoing
DOCUMENTARY
This independent short-form documentary follows a young filmmaker's global journey to reunite her family through grief and forgiveness. It tells the story of a non-traditional family separated by distance and culture, yet bound together by enduring love and a deep desire for mutual understanding. https://sarah-leininger.com/8/

MS PRESIDENT, 2024-2025
INTERVIEWS
Amid the chaos of Oktoberfest's beer-soaked revelry, interviews about the U.S. presidential election create a hilariously absurd contrast. With steins in hand and questionable focus, festivalgoers provide unfiltered—and often incoherent—takes on global politics, blending international celebration with unexpected political commentary.

MY MOMS PATIENTS, 2024
DOCUMENTARY
Karen is the longest-serving nurse at the social care center and a true cornerstone of her profession. Her unique way of connecting with patients creates bonds that often extend beyond her work. Karen always wanted to write down the stories of the people she worked with and accompanied until the end so she paired up with her daughter Sarah, to capture those old souls. In this project, Karen interviews "her" patients about their lives. Through these conversations, a special closeness emerges, defined by trust, warmth, and mutual respect.

ANNÄHERUNG, 2023-2024
PHOTOGRAPHY
The project Annäherung is approaching to the topic of menstruation. Annäherung
is German for approach and getting closer/ warming up to something. The topic
of menstruation is so repressed and silent that it needs a social approach. It needs to be approached until the last person no longer says “If tampons should be free,
so should condoms.”

BEYOND LABELS, 2022-2024
INTERACTIVE EXHIBITION, EDITORIAL, PHOTOGRAPHY
An Exhibition on an university by portrayals of its individuals. The inspiration for this exhibition and publication came out of the desire to let students and employees tell their personal stories and allow a glimpse behind the “labels” that we assign on a daily basis. The diversity exhibition and publication were independently developed, organized and implemented by a team of four students.

The Feminist Media Studio is located on the unceded lands of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation. We seek to stand in solidarity with Indigenous demands for land restitution and reparations.

Our work—committed to intersectional and anti-colonial feminist praxis—actively engages and names the predicament of doing feminism on stolen land. We acknowledge that territorial acknowledgement is insufficient to stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities.
Our anti-colonial and decolonial efforts articulated in our Lab Values center resisting extraction in all its facets, de-centering feminist canons, valuing methodologies that oppose white supremacy, and building good relations with human and more-than-humans.
