Stephanie E. Creaghan

Stephanie E. Creaghan is a video artist and filmmaker whose project considers how violence inserts itself into communication, combining different linguistic pathways (audio/visual/sculptural) to spotlight these methods of aggression, from interpersonal manipulation to institutional gaslighting. They are more recently invested in lateral collaboration and in Blanchot's literary silence, and lecture-performances are a new addition to their project, itself moving towards film (medium) and feature-length (form).

They had their first solo exhibition in New York at D.D.D.D. in Fall 2025, and their first major cinematic presentation at the Cinémathèque québécoise in Winter 2023. They have exhibited and performed in Montreal, Quebec City, Toronto, Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Prague, and Singapore, and completed international residencies in Basel, Paris, France, Stolpe/Oder, Germany, New York, USA, and Wexford, Ireland, as well as at the Centre for Expanded Poetics in Montreal.

The Feminist Media Studio is located on the unceded lands of the Kanien’kehá:ka Nation. We seek to stand in solidarity with Indigenous demands for land restitution and reparations.

Our work—committed to intersectional and anti-colonial feminist praxis—actively engages and names the predicament of doing feminism on stolen land. We acknowledge that territorial acknowledgement is insufficient to stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities.
Our anti-colonial and decolonial efforts articulated in our Lab Values center resisting extraction in all its facets, de-centering feminist canons, valuing methodologies that oppose white supremacy, and building good relations with human and more-than-humans.
